چکیده

In this paper, a novel concept for ultra-wideband simultaneous switching noise (SSN) mitigation in high-speed printed circuit boards (PCBs) is proposed. Using complementary spiral resonators (CSRs) etched on only a single layer of the power plane and cascaded co-centrically around the noise port, ultra-wideband SSN suppression by 30 dB is achieved in a frequency span ranging from 340MHz to beyond 10 GHz. By placing a slit in the co-centric rings, lower cut-off frequency is reduced to 150MHz, keeping the rest of the structure unaltered. Finally, the power plane structure with modified complementary spiral resonators (MCSRs) is designed, fabricated, and evaluated experimentally. Measurement and simulation results are in well-agreement.

Miniaturized High-Pass Filter Based on Balanced Composite Right-Left Handed Transmission Line Using Meander Spiral Complementary Split Ring Resonators

In this paper, a compact high-pass filter (HPF) with a sharp rejection response based on the balanced composite right-left handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) concept is proposed. A series LC resonator using an interdigital capacitor and meander lines is designed. Also, a meander spiral complementary split ring resonator (MSCSRR) is used to realize the parallel LC resonator. The high-pass filt...

Delay Uncertainty Due to On-chip Simultaneous Switching Noise in High Performance Cmos Integrated Circuits

On-chip parasitic inductance inherent to the power supply rails has become significant in high speed digital circuits. Therefore, current surges result in voltage fluctuations within the power distribution networks, creating delay uncertainty. On-chip simultaneous switching noise should therefore be considered when estimating the propagation delay of a CMOS logic gate in high speed synchronous ...

Modeling and Simulation of Substrate Noise in Mixed-Signal Circuits Applied to a Special VCO

The mixed-signal circuits with both analog and digital blocks on a single chip have wide applications in communication and RF circuits. Integrating these two blocks can cause serious problems especially in applications requiring fast digital circuits and high performance analog blocks. Fast switching in digital blocks generates a noise which can be introduced to analog circuits by the common su...

© 2010 Jong Hwa Kwon et al. 265 To supply a power distribution network with stable power in a high-speed mixed mode system, simultaneous switching noise caused at the multilayer PCB and package structures needs to be sufficiently suppressed. The uniplanar compact electromagnetic bandgap (UC-EBG) structure is well known as a promising solution to suppress the power noise and isolate noise-sensit...
